    Frequently Asked Questions

To study in Spain, international students must have their secondary or higher education diplomas officially recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Education. This process, calledhomologación, validates your previous qualifications to match Spanish standards. International students must also provide proof of language proficiency, typically in Spanish (or English for certain programs), depending on the course.

In Spain, the application process varies by region and university. International students from outside the EU typically apply directly through the university's online portal, which requires them to submit academic transcripts, proof of language proficiency, and other documents. Some Spanish universities also use centralized application services for undergraduate programs, such as the "UNED" system, which simplifies the process for non-EU students.

Yes! Spain offers a variety of scholarship opportunities for international students. These include government-funded programs like the "MAEC-AECID" scholarships for non-EU students and specific university scholarships. Some universities also offer merit-based or need-based financial assistance. Additionally, the Erasmus+ program offers financial aid for students from European countries.

While many universities offer programs in English (especially at the postgraduate level), proficiency in Spanish is generally required for undergraduate programs, as most are taught in Spanish. Many universities offer language courses to help those who do not speak Spanish improve their skills before starting their studies. Some universities also provide courses in other languages, such as Catalan or English, for international students.

Non-EU students must apply for a student visa through the Spanish consulate in their home country. Required documents for this process include an acceptance letter from a Spanish university and proof of sufficient financial resources, health insurance, and academic qualifications as well. Student visas typically allow students to stay for the duration of their studies (up to one year) and can be renewed.

Tuition fees for international and local students are the same. For the 2025–2026 academic year, the general fees are as follows:

    • Bachelor's Degrees: €11,550 (single payment) or €12,090 (installments).
    • Advanced Vocational Training: €6,210 (single payment) or €6,570 (installments).
    • Master's Degrees: €11,670 (single payment) or €12,300 (installments).
    • Postgraduate Degrees: €6,600 (single payment) or €6,930 (installments).
